Community Guidelines

Version 2026-10-04Incorporated into the Terms of Service

These Community Guidelines articulate the standards of conduct that govern all User Content, interactions and transactions on goated. They form an integral part of the Terms of Service, and capitalised terms carry the meanings assigned there. The Guidelines are applied holistically: the Operator assesses conduct by reference to its substance, context and cumulative effect rather than by literal reading alone, and conduct that is not expressly enumerated may nonetheless constitute a violation where it is inconsistent with their evident purpose.

01Guiding Principles

The Service is predicated on three interdependent commitments: the integrity of its economy, the safety of its participants, and the authenticity of the identities presented on it. Every User assumes a shared responsibility to uphold these commitments, and the Operator's enforcement posture is calibrated to preserve them, prioritising the protection of the community as a whole over the interests of any individual Account.

02Prohibited Content

No User Content, including profile text, links, uploaded files, custom code, templates, guestbook entries and Collectible Names, may contain, depict, promote or facilitate:

03Identity, Names and Impersonation

Usernames and Collectible Names constitute representations of identity and are subject to heightened scrutiny. Users shall not register, mint, acquire or deploy any name for the purpose of impersonating a natural person, brand, public figure, organisation, Operator personnel or system function, or in a manner calculated to mislead others as to the source, sponsorship or affiliation of a page.

The speculative acquisition of names corresponding to the trademarks or established identities of third parties, with a view to extracting payment from, or causing confusion with, such third parties, is prohibited. The Operator may reclaim, suspend, rename or reassign any name without compensation where it reasonably concludes that this Section has been contravened or that a bona fide rights-holder has demonstrated a superior claim.

04Marketplace Integrity

The credibility of prices, rankings and appraisals within the Service depends upon arm's-length dealing between independent participants. Accordingly, the following practices are prohibited:

The Operator monitors trading patterns and reserves the right to unwind, void or reverse transactions, and to recover Stars and Virtual Items, where it reasonably determines that any of the foregoing has occurred.

05Accounts, Automation and Rewards

Each person is entitled to one Account. The creation or operation of additional Accounts in order to accumulate registration rewards, daily rewards, streak drops, referral benefits, likes, views or leaderboard standing, or to aggregate value into a primary Account, constitutes reward abuse. Automated interaction with the Service by means of scripts, bots or headless clients is prohibited unless expressly authorised in writing by the Operator.

Referral programmes are intended to reward the genuine introduction of new, independent Users. Self-referral, incentivised sign-up schemes and the procurement of referrals through spam or deception are prohibited, and any benefits derived therefrom are subject to reversal.

06Custom Code, Templates and Embeds

Custom HTML and CSS submitted by premium Users is subject to human review prior to publication. Submissions must not: attempt to execute scripts or circumvent the sandbox; overlay, obscure or imitate interface elements of the Service, of payment flows or of third-party login pages; collect information from visitors; deliver tracking or fingerprinting beyond ordinary image loading; or degrade the performance of the page for visitors. Templates must constitute original work or work the publisher is entitled to license, and must accurately represent their appearance and any premium dependencies.

Embedded media, including video and audio blocks, must comply with the terms of the originating platform and with Section 2 of these Guidelines.

07Security Research and Responsible Disclosure

The Operator welcomes good-faith security research conducted in accordance with this Section. Researchers must: confine testing to Accounts they own or are expressly authorised to use; refrain from accessing, modifying or exfiltrating data belonging to others; avoid any degradation of the Service; refrain from exploiting any finding for economic gain, including the creation or duplication of Stars or Virtual Items; and report findings promptly and confidentially to the Operator, allowing a reasonable period for remediation before any disclosure.

Activity conducted in accordance with this Section will not be treated as a breach of the Terms. Activity falling outside it, including the retention or use of any value obtained through a defect, will be treated as a serious violation, and any such value will be reclaimed.

08Interaction Between Users

Guestbooks, likes, offers and notifications exist to facilitate constructive engagement. Users shall not use these channels to transmit unsolicited commercial communications, repetitive or low-value messages, chain solicitations, threats, or any content prohibited by Section 2. Offers must be made in good faith; the systematic submission of nominal offers for the purpose of harassment or notification flooding is prohibited. Page owners are responsible for moderating their guestbooks and are encouraged to hide entries that do not meet these standards.

09Enforcement Framework

The Operator applies a graduated and proportionate enforcement framework, having regard to the severity, intent, frequency and impact of a violation. Measures may be applied individually or cumulatively and include, without limitation:

  1. removal, hiding or modification of the offending User Content;
  2. rejection or withdrawal of custom code or templates;
  3. reclamation of Collectible Names or Virtual Items, and reversal of transactions;
  4. restriction of specific functionality, including trading, publishing or messaging;
  5. temporary suspension of the Account for a defined period; and
  6. permanent termination of the Account, with forfeiture of all Stars and Virtual Items as provided in the Terms.

The Operator is not obliged to follow the foregoing sequence and may proceed directly to permanent termination for severe violations, including those relating to child safety, fraud, exploitation of defects and coordinated abuse. Measures taken against one Account may be extended to any Account the Operator reasonably believes to be operated by, or in concert with, the same person. Enforcement decisions are made at the Operator's discretion and do not give rise to any entitlement to compensation or refund.

10Reporting and Review

Users who encounter content or conduct that they believe contravenes these Guidelines are encouraged to report it through the support channels published within the Service, providing sufficient detail to permit investigation. Reports are assessed on their merits; the submission of knowingly false or abusive reports is itself a violation. A User subject to an enforcement measure may request a review by providing relevant context; the Operator will consider such requests in good faith, and its determination upon review shall be final.

11Amendments

These Guidelines may be revised to reflect changes in the Service, emerging risks or applicable law. The version identifier above indicates the operative text. Continued use of the Service following the publication of a revision constitutes acceptance thereof, without prejudice to any re-acceptance requirement the Operator may impose under the Terms.
